How can you infuse the idea of hygge into design? Isn’t it just candles, fluffy blankets, slippers, and so many pillows you can’t find your bed? Yes, candles and soft, fluffy things are the hallmark cards of hygge, but it’s so much more than that.
Every space KHD creates starts with getting to know our clients and what makes them tick. As trained designers, we’re inspired by beautiful spaces, but as humans, we’re inspired by bringing joy and life to our clients through their homes.
We’re all different. Some people are inspired by colour, and some need subtle hues to bring them to life. Some like big, fluffy furniture, and some prefer a minimalist approach. Through the science of design and the needs of our clients, we create comfortable spaces that are customized to each person.
Hygge design is not based on any one aesthetic. You could have a maximalist design that could be considered hygge just as well as you could have the traditional lighter, minimalist space with layered textures and pops of colour. Hygge design is based on proven design principles matched with what will bring the most connection and peace to an individual.
